Breed diseases that you should know before raising them
Each disease below is based on veterinary resources listed at the end of the section. And also tell what the general maintenance is like. This does not mean that every dog or cat of this breed will. But it is a more common risk than other breeds.
The kneecap slips out of its designated groove when the knee is bent. This causes an intermittent jumping gait. PetMD states this is a condition that Toy Poodles are at risk for.

It is a group of diseases that cause the photoreceptor cells in the retina (survival and cones) to deteriorate, leading to a gradual loss of vision and eventually blindness. There is no cure. PetMD states that this is one of the conditions that Toy Poodles are at risk from.
Care guidelines: There is no treatment that reverts PRA to normal. The care is palliative. (Helps blind dogs adapt) and genetic testing of dogs used for breeding to reduce the occurrence of this condition in future litters.
