It is a congenital tube of skin tissue that runs deep down the spine. (traces left over from incomplete separation between the skin and nerve tissue in the fetus) which may become infected or connect to the spinal canal

Abnormal growth of the hip joint causes the joint to become loose. This leads to arthritis and pain as the dog ages.
